How Do I Obtain

The St. Matthews Police Department wants to better serve you by keeping you informed. We have created this section to help you navigate some of the frequently asked questions and details of services we provide. Please select one of the links listed in the left column of this page to locate your subject of interest.

Copy of a Report

In Person
Copies of police reports can be obtained in person at the St. Matthews Police Department located at 3940 Grandview Avenue, St. Matthews, KY 40207 during normal business hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Please bring your report number with you. Copies will be provided free to St. Matthews residents or if you are a party in the report.

Electronic Report
For your convenience, accident reports are also available online at www.BuyCrash.com. The charge for the online report is $10.00.

By Mail
Your written request must include the following:

  1. The name of the person who filed the report and the report number printed clearly on a sheet of paper.
  2. A standard #10 self-addressed stamped envelope

Crime Mapping Information

Fingerprints

Fingerprinting Services are available at the St Matthews Police station, located in the St Matthews City Hall, 3940 Grandview Avenue, Louisville, Ky 40207.

This service is available on Monday through Thursday from the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

  • Appointments must be made in advance by calling (502) 899-2537.
  • The cost per card is $10.00.
  • Payment must be made by check, money order or exact change. Credit cards and debit cards are not accepted.

For any agency, business or facility that has a statutory requirement to conduct fingerprint-based state and FBI background checks for employment purposes, which includes law enforcement/criminal justice, noncriminal justice such as: nursing, medical licensure, teachers/education, CHFS, and others must have their print taken at the agency below.

Permits are obtained through the City for the following:

  • Golf Cart—ATV
  • Portable Storage
  • Signs
  • Special Events
  • Street Party
  • Tents
  • Walk / Run Event

Towed Vehicle Information

The St. Matthews Police Department utilizes Tony’s Wrecker Service for vehicles towed in the City. If you need information related to your vehicle, please contact Tony’s Wrecker Service .

Victim Assistance

The St. Matthews Police Department contracts with a licensed behavior health professional to provide services to victims of crimes and emotionally distressed individuals.
