Training

St. Matthews police officers receive 40 hours of in-service training every year. This is in compliance with the Kentucky Law Enforcement Foundation Program Fund (KLEFPF), established in 1972, which provides necessary funding for the mandatory training of Kentucky law enforcement officers. It also provides an annual training-incentive stipend to officers whose agencies adopt established KLEFPF standards. All training is approved by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council and monitored by the Department of Criminal Justice Training.

St. Matthews officers received additional training established by the executive command staff of the St. Matthews Police Department.
