Mayor Tonini called the caucus meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. This meeting was for discussion purposes only. No decisions are made.
A discussion regarding traffic problems in the area of 4152 Westport Rd started. Councilmembers thought the last council meeting was productive in that everyone was heard who wanted to express an opinion regarding the rezoning of 4152 Westport Rd. The question of how much control does St. Matthews have over the traffic in that area was asked and discussed. Requirements for a traffic light and speed reduction were brought up and how to engage KYTC. Research is being done to have the same condition of the conditional use permit pertaining to the dedication of Perryman Rd on the Surgical Center as Trilogy has. It was brought up that Walden might be able to change the pickup queue of students to alleviate some traffic issues.
The Mayor announced the City could receive plans from the developer regarding Gilman’s Point development at the corners of Ridgeway and Westport Rd. There is no zoning change needed. Because of an ordinance relating to the size and number of units of the development, the plans are required to receive council approval and a letter of compliance from St. Matthews. Although traffic roundabouts may not be popular, one in this intersection would solve traffic problems in the area. The council expects many people to attend the council meeting when this plan is on the agenda. The meeting may need to be held at The Arterburn.
Trevor Cravens passed out a lineup of bands currently booked, still need a couple of bands. They are working on the placement of the stage. The area near the creek is not level and a hand-built stage may be needed instead of a mobile stage. All other activities are coming along. Several events for children will be available. Yoga with goats is currently on the schedule as a morning activity. The drone show is set. Pavillion programs, mostly cooking demonstrations, are still being worked out. HB Productions still needs to secure parking at the medical offices and talk with SMPD regarding traffic. Logo designs will need to be finalized. The St. Matthews Magazine may be running an article about the 75th Anniversary, as well as being the lead story in the newsletter. Trevor will email Judi the information regarding activities and run of show. Judi will send that information to the council.
