The UK’s Project 80 is a year-long celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (May 8, 1945). The Project was launched on May 8, 2025, on the steps of St. Paul’s Cathedral with King Charles, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of London and over 1000 guests in attendance. The long-term goal of Project 80 is to encourage participants in communities around the world to take part in activities that promote peace, freedom, resilience, fortitude, and unity. Within this project there are 6 programs including The Lamp of Peace. The actual physical Lamp of Peace that will be present during the weekend is a symbol representing the “light of peace’ that emerged from the darkness of WW II.
