The position of City Clerk is required by Kentucky law and is the official record keeper of all city documents. The position is in the Office of City Hall Administration. Other duties include responding to resident questions and complaints as well as the collection of property taxes, occupational taxes and issuing of business licenses. Additionally, duties related to human resources and benefits fall under the direction of the City Clerk.
The Treasurer is responsible for day-to-day duties of all financial transactions related to the city. The position includes being responsible for accounts receivable as well as accounts payable.
Interim Clerk, Sandy Doane is a retired City Clerk, after 39 years of service, for the City of Eminence in Henry County Kentucky, while Interim Clerk, Rheba Roten retired as City Clerk from the City of Douglas Hills in Jefferson County Kentucky, while continuing to take council meeting minutes for the City of Hurstbourne, also in Jefferson County Kentucky, until accepting this Interim position.
These ladies currently share the responsibilities and duties of the City of St. Matthews City Clerk / Treasurer until such time as a thorough search has been completed to select a permanent individual for this important position.
