Increasing public understanding of property assessments and the right to appeal is a top priority of Property Valuation Administration. The role of the PVA is to fairly assess the value of all property. This is an important part of the process to determine the taxes collected to fund our cities, school districts, and emergency services. The PVA does its best to determine accurate median property value for comparable homes, but the agency doesn’t know every detail of all properties. The condition of a home could mean it falls substantially below or above the median value. That’s why it’s so important for residents to know about their right to appeal. Your attendance at this public meeting is extremely important because the first step of the appeals process in 2021 is available from April 23rd to May 17th.
